Summer is the best time to try new things and see new places.

I had known about this unique installation that was The Floating Piers for month, but actually managed to visit it on the last but one available day – classic me 🙂

Unfortunately everything is gone now, but Lake Iseo and its surrondings are definitely worth a visit. Green mountains throw themselves into the dark blue water  and pretty villages and small ports line the whole coast.

One of our stops on the way to the Piers was Clusane.

We wandered by the wooden boats until a sudden rainpour had us running away looking for shelter.

Luckly the weather got better when we got nearer to the starting point of the Piers.

From a distance it was quite a view.

The piers, 16 meters wide and covered in bright yelow fabric, connected Sulzano, on the shore of Lake Iseo, to the islands of Montisola and San Paolo.

2 hours of queue (!) and we were on.

Once on Montisola we avoided the crowd and took the longer way, climbing up the narrow winding streets of the island.

Stopping now and then to recover from the heat.

I know – I desperately need a tan 😦

The view got more and more amazing the more we climbed the hill.

Revealing the real beauty of the lake and of the piers.

After a last look from the top we rolled down for another walk on water.

Right up to the private island of San Paolo, before turning back and heading home – already planning the next trip here.
