A trip to Brussels – part 2

We celebrated our first evening in Brussels at Chutney’s, a cozy restaurant right next to the Grand Place.

We went for the Belgian menu, ordered one of everything.

Tomato with shrips and mixed salad.

Cheese croquette, with fried parsley and lemon.

Beef carbonnade with Gueuze beer and chips – my favourite! The stew is rich, sweet and satisfying and the chips are perfect: hot, salty and not at all greasy.

Grilled salmon steak, with season’s puree and pesto sauce (10 points for the puree. I’ll just have to try it at home).

brussels_57

Dame blanche and Brussels tiramisù with speculoos. I dived into the tiramisù so quickly I didn’t even notice the cocoa heart until now :).

After coffee, feeling stuffed and happy, we walked to the square. Beautiful by day, it’s absolutely stunning by night – all dressed in pink and lights.

Then ended the night with a Belgian beer tasting.

Unfortunately (I blame the beers) I didn’t save the bar’s name – but don’t worry, if you’re in the rues around the square, just look out for the lines of glasses. You’ll know right away you’re in the right place.

Don’t miss my next post about Brussels – not long to wait!
